New Delhi: Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann visited the house of Sadhu Musa Wala on Friday, a few days after a Punjabi singer was shot dead.
Mr Mann arrived in Musa village to offer his condolences to the family. A heavy contingent of police is deployed outside Musa Wala's residence.
Musa Wala was shot dead by unknown assailants in Mansa District, Punjab, on May 29, a day after the state government reduced his security cordon. Her cousins and friends, who were traveling with her in the jeep, were also injured in the attack.
The state's Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) government has slammed the singer's lack of security, as well as more than 400 other VIPs, in a move that opponents say is aimed at scoring political points. Was The party had also publicized the move on social media.
Musa Wala's family has also criticized the government. His mother Charan Kaur said, "What's the difference between our son and four people (deployment)? Will your coffers be full now?"
Some AAP leaders have questioned why Musa Wala was traveling in a vehicle that was not bullet proof and did not have the two guards assigned to him.
Mr Mann's visit comes a day after he met party chief and Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal. On Friday morning, the chief minister was confronted by protesters chanting slogans who tried to stop him from entering Musa village.
The Punjab and Haryana High Court was informed on Thursday that the security cover of 424 VIPs, which had been temporarily reduced, would be restored from June 7.
